How left and right read it
Zelenskyy said Crimea is not currently on the peace agenda, even as he reaffirmed that Crimea is Ukrainian territory and part of Ukraine’s history. That tension matters. It shows how war can force a country to negotiate under pressure while core questions of sovereignty remain unsettled, which is exactly why diplomacy and support cannot treat the hardest territorial issue as disposable.
Crimea is not currently on the peace agenda, even as Volodymyr Zelenskyy says it remains Ukrainian territory and part of Ukraine’s history. After meeting Donald Trump, he discussed Patriot interceptor missile production licenses and reviving diplomacy, while Trump made clear he wants the war to end. Fine. But if core claims are deferred, what exactly is the negotiating objective?
This is less a story about whether Crimea is in the room today than about whether peace can proceed without hollowing out its core claim.
